Firstly, congratulations! Well done for finding this page and starting your journey towards better personal finances. By getting here I can tell that you’re the kind of person that needs a little help with understanding your personal finances, and that’s OK. Unless you have someone who manages your personal wealth for you, then pretty much everyone is in the same boat as you. So don’t worry. I was certainly in this position, as an adult in my late 20’s/early 30’s wishing I had someone who could have taught me about managing personal finances, a money mentor of sorts. Unfortunately the ‘M’ word is very controversial, especially in the environment I grew up in. Asking someone about their personal finances was worse than proposing politics or religion as a topic of conversation at a family BBQ. Its not only frowned upon, its actively discouraged. Well if like you were like me, you don’t understand how you can ‘make your money work for you’ or finding the best ‘investment portfolio for me’ then I am here to help. Consider me your money mentor.
“I will introduce you to my concept of the Magic Number.”
I am not doing this to be self-righteous or to condescend anyone, because trust me, I have really got it wrong in the past when it came to money. In my early 20’s I bought countless cars I couldn’t afford, financed most of them, take loans with zero regard for how I was going to make the repayments. Put credit cards in the cash machine and literally thought I had figured out what nobody else ever could – how to get free money. I am certainly not a financial adviser. So believe me when I say I am in no position to judge, criticise or comment on anybody else individual decisions or their financial position.
“There is nothing in this blog that I haven’t done myself”
So what am I going to do? Well I am going to be your money mentor, I am going to show you and explain to you how personal finances can be made simple and how they can be turned around in much less time than you think. I will introduce you to my concept of the ‘Magic Number’ and how that can be applied to all things financial. Most of the (for lack of a better word) lessons that I talk about here I have paid for, some dearly. Those that I didn’t learn through pain are ones that I have researched, like what you are doing now, and have put into practice. There is nothing in this blog that I haven’t done myself. The good news for you is that you can find them all in one place. Here! You don’t need to waste your time reading literally thousands of posts, reading numerous book like I have. So let’s get started.
